Veterinary Life Coach
A seasoned veterinarian, practice owner, dedicated mother, and advocate for personal growth within the veterinary community.
While balancing motherhood, I decided to build a free-standing clinic that was one-of-a-kind at the time: modern but homey and on budget. After that process, we welcomed our third and final child, Alexis. This journey led me to experience first-hand the stresses life brings you day in and day out as a working mom, a Veterinarian, a builder, and obviously a practice owner.
Fast-forward some more years, and the overwhelm began to hit. I felt like I hit a wall and was drowning, without being able to see a different perspective or way out. Without strong support, clarity, or hope I ultimately made the decision to sell my practice in 2018. Soon after that I discovered an interest in life coaching for myself. Through my own transformation working with a life coach, I saw the need for this positive, empowering, forward-thinking mindset in veterinary medicine. With my background in Psychology, love for helping others, and love for this profession, I set out to become a certified life coach for the veterinary profession.
My Turning Point
My journey in the veterinary industry has been a fulfilling adventure, marked by working in the world of emergency medicine and establishing my own successful small animal practice. Now, I embrace the opportunity to share my knowledge as a certified life coach and a mental wellness speaker for the profession. After obtaining my degree in psychology and serving as a mental health worker for four years, I realized my childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. I followed that dream and graduated from OSU-CVM in 1998.
Upon graduating, I worked in emergency medicine for 3 years before taking the plunge into ownership and purchasing Family Pet Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. A few short months later, my second child, Tanner, arrived. I had Tanner on a Wednesday, and on the way home from the hospital on Friday, I laughably stopped by the clinic to do payroll with my husband and 2 kids in tow - the life of a DVM Mom.

Coaching On Purpose
Since 2020, I’ve been a life coach for the veterinary profession. Most of my clients typically struggle with burnout, feeling overwhelmed, and a negative mindset of feeling stuck with no path forward. As a life coach, I empower my clients and provide support and accountability through their transformational journey. They emerge with peace and joy, better prepared to deal positively with life’s struggles personally or professionally.
I actively enjoy presenting interactive workshops and lectures at industry conferences. This includes offering group coaching for colleagues, clinics, and corporate teams. I want to provide the support I wish I had as a veterinarian earlier in my career to as many people as possible to strengthen it.
Looking ahead, I’m enjoying designing and leading retreats that focus on mental wellness for DVM women. These retreats' foundation is building relationships between colleagues, strengthening support systems, and indulging in some often overlooked self-care and pampering.
Serenity Sisters
I’m excited to start a new chapter, introducing a wellness retreat tailored specifically for veterinarian women. These retreats are crafted to encourage mental wellness and teach essential self-care practices.
I envision a supportive community where veterinary professionals can come together, recharge, and equip themselves with the tools to navigate the unique challenges we face.
